Winter Sunday Afternoon

It's nice to have Boyd home. He was in Indianapolis these past few days and is exhausted, since he was up at 4 to catch his flight. He is enjoying a well deserved nap on this Sunday afternoon, while Sarah is joyfully playing the piano. Speaking of piano, during Sunday dish-time, Sarah and McKay were chatting and Sarah said she didn't care for playing the hymn "Who's on the Lord's Side, Who?" So of course I broke into the Portuguese version of the hymn and we all kind of sang it for awhile. McKay then followed it up by singing the second part of the "Mexican Hat Dance" song (as we used to refer to it as kids.) The hymn and song fit together perfectly and I couldn't help but laugh out loud about how similar the songs are to each other. I told the kids I hope the music director doesn't choose that for one of the hymns next Sunday at church or the Mathesons will have to excuse themselves so as not to interrupt the meeting with our laughter.

Never try to sneak chocolate while your kids are around because they will always catch you. Sarah is used to it by now and doesn't let it phase her. She just seeks out the source, and usually succeeds I think.

I had a good talk with Brianne yesterday. I feel sorry for her having to lay in a hospital bed, all day long, day after day. But I also feel excited for her, knowing that after all those hours of laying down, the end result will absolutely be worth it. As much as house chores might seem like a treat to her right now, some day they will become the norm again. I am cheering you on, Brianne! Believe me, I know what you're going through.
